Baked ham with sweet gravy recipe details
Soooo many people have told me they have never had ham gravy. Boy, are they missing out. This is my favorite meal: baked ham with mashed potatoes and ham gravy. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Ready in: 1 hour 45 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 10- 1 (8 to 10 pound) fully cooked, bone-in smoked ham
- 1 (6 ounce) can apple juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 1 hour 30 mins1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (160 degrees C). Place ham in roasting pan, cut side down. Pour apple juice into bottom of roaster. By hand, press brown sugar onto ham, approx. 1/2 cup. Cover ham with lid or aluminum foil if ham is too big for lid.
2. Roast in oven 10 minutes for every pound, or until center of ham reaches 160 degrees F. Let ham rest for 10 minutes before removing to serving plate.
3. Combine flour and milk in shaker cup for gravy thickener. Bring pan juices to boil and whisk in gravy thickener a little at a time until desired thickness is reached. Serve with mashed potatoes and rolls.
