Baked apples with a hat recipe details
Ingredients
4 large | apples, cored |
2 tbsp | lemon juice |
4 tbsp | cranberry jam |
2 tbsp | rum or cognac |
1 tbsp | butter, soft |
130 ml | white wine |
2 | egg whites |
2 tbsp | vanilla sugar |
1 pinch(es) | salt |
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200°C.Pour lemon juice into the cored apples. Mix together cranberry jam and rum or cognac. Stuff the apples with the mixture and place into a buttered casserole dish. Drizzle with white wine and bake the apples for about 25 minutes.
In the meantime whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt and the vanilla sugar until stiff. Place a dollop of the beaten egg white on top of each apple and bake at 150°C for about 10 minutes more.
Serve hot on dessert plates accompanied by custard or vanilla ice cream.
