Aunt b s angel food cake recipe details
Ingredients
200 g | icing sugar |
125 g | plain flour |
12 large | eggs, whites only |
1 ½ tsp | cream of tartar |
1 tsp | vanilla extract |
125 g | caster sugar |
Instructions
Preheat oven to Gas Mark 4, 180°C, 350°F.Sift together the icing sugar and flour three times from bowl to bowl.
In a large clean bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar and vanilla with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add the caster sugar, about 2 tbsp at a time, beating continuously until stiff peaks form.
Sift about a quarter of the flour mixture over the whites and fold in gently. Repeat three more time.
Pour into an ungreased Bundt pan or tube pan and bake for 40 minutes.
Leave the cake in the pan for a few minutes and then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
