Au gratin onion tart recipe details
Ingredients
500 g | flour |
40 g | yeast, crumbled |
¼ l | lukewarm water |
½ tsp | salt |
1 kg | onions, peeled and sliced |
2 | eggs |
100 g | crème fraîche |
salt and freshly ground black pepper | |
garlic, chopped | |
100 g | freshly grated Cheddar cheese |
2 tbsp | oil |
Instructions
Dissolve the yeast in the water. In a bowl, combine the flour, yeast water and salt. Knead until well combined. Allow to rise at a warm place until doubled in size.In a large saucepan, heat the oil and sauté the onions over low heat until slightly golden. Whisk the eggs with the crème fraîche and stir in the cheese and the onions. Season to taste with salt, pepper and garlic.
Preheat the oven to 175°C.
Knock back the dough and knead again. Roll out the dough onto a buttered baking tray. Allow to rise for 10 minutes. Spread with the onion mixture and bake for 30 minutes.
Serve still warm.
