Apple meringue recipe details
Ingredients
500 ml | apple puree |
15 ml | lemon juice |
3 medium | eggs, separated |
250 g | caster sugar |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C. Combine apple puree, lemon juice and egg yolks with about 75 g sugar. Beat until well combined. Spoon into a 750 ml baking dish, cover, and bake for 15 minutes.In a separate clean bowl, whisk the egg whites to stiff peaks. Whisk in 150 g of the remaining sugar and beat well.
Pile the meringue on top of the apple mixture and sprinkle with the remaining sugar and bake for a further 15 minutes.
Serving suggestions:Serve with custard or single cream.
