Apple and nut marble cake recipe details
Ingredients
250 g | butter, softened |
250 g | sugar |
4 medium | eggs |
1 tbsp | vanilla sugar |
100 g | ground hazelnuts |
2 tbsp | cocoa powder |
2 large | apples, peeled and grated |
1 pinch(es) | cinnamon |
300 g | flour |
1 tbsp | baking powder |
Instructions
Place the softened butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and eggs into a large bowl and beat well with an electric or hand whisk. Add the grated apple, nuts, baking powder, cinnamon and flour and whisk for another 2-3 minutes or until it forms a smooth batter/dough.Ladle half the mixture into a well greased medium loaf tin. I usually line my tins with non-stick baking paper, as there is quite a bit of butter in the cake already. Add the remaining two tablespoons of cocoa powder to the other half of the mixture and combine well.
Spoon the rest on top and use a clean fork to “swirl” the two colours by going once or twice from left to right. This should give the cake its infamous marbled look.
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Bake for ca. 50 minutes.
