Ann's famous chocolate chip cookies recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1 cup butter-flavored shortening
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2-1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup coconut
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
This recipe, which our guests love, was from Ann, one of our employees. “You can’t taste the coconut, but the cookies are fabulously moist because of it. We have an around-the-clock cookie jar and this is one real favorite!”Innkeeper Ann Thorsen
With an electric mixer, cream shortening, sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in vanilla and the eggs, one at a time, scraping bowl after each addition. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, coconut, baking soda, and salt. Beat flour mixture slowly into sugar mixture. Stir in chocolate chips by hand. If batter is too sticky to roll into balls, add more coconut or flour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll batter into balls the size of golf balls. Place on greased cookie sheets and bake for 10 minutes or until set. Remove from oven and cool for a few minutes before removing cookies.
Makes:3 dozen cookies
