About this recipe

In this blog post I will guide you thru the steps and ingredients needed to craft this recipe. Grab your favorite apron and let's start.
The Drunken Apples recipe is a delightful dessert that combines the sweetness of apples with the richness of brandy. This simple yet indulgent dish involves simmering sliced apples in a mixture of brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon, before adding a generous splash of brandy for a boozy twist. The apples soak up the flavors of the brandy and become tender and caramelized, making them the perfect topping for ice cream or a delicious filling for pies and tarts.

Ingredients

6 medium apples
2 tsp lemon juice
90 g walnuts
100 g brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
60 g butter
6 slice(s) Provola cheese
250 ml whisky

Instructions

Heat oven to 200°C.

Carefully core apples with a long, thin knife. Slice off some of the bottom part so that the apples can stand in a baking dish without rolling over. Rub the insides with lemon juice.

In a medium-size bowl, mix remaining ingredients, except whisky and cheese.

Gently stuff the cored apples and place in square baking dish where the apples can be placed as close as possible next to each other. Drizzle whiskey over top and cover tightly with foil.

Bake 15-20 minutes, then remove foil. Apples should be softened, but not mushy. Baste with whisky liquid, then place a slice of cheese on top of each apple and return to oven. Bake a few minutes more until cheese is melted and just begins to brown.

Serve immediately.

Serving suggestion:Serve with grilled pork tenderloin.
