Ingredients:
1/4 cup seven grain dried cereal
1 egg
4 Tablespoons safflower or canola oil
1/2 to 1 cup buttermilk
1-3/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:

These biscuits taste great and are very popular at Little Tree. They don’t have as much fat as traditional biscuits.

Put 7-grain in measuring cup or small bowl; add warm water to cover grain. Let it sit to absorb water while measuring other ingredients. Mix egg, oil, and buttermilk together. In mixing bowl, mix all dry ingredients. When 7-grain has absorbed water, add it and egg, oil, and buttermilk to dry ingredients. Mix and turn onto floured board and knead lightly. Roll out 1 inch thick and cut with floured biscuit cutter and cook in 400-degree oven for 15 minutes.
