Zwetschgendatschi recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg firm ripe damsons |
300 g all purpose flour |
80 g sugar, and sugar to sprinkle the baked cake |
150 g curd cheese |
1 pinch(es) salt |
6 tbsp oil |
4 tbsp milk |
1 egg |
1 tsp baking powder, heaped |
70 g butter, melted, and butter to grease the baking tray |
Instructions
In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, curd cheese, salt, oil, milk, egg and baking powder and knead with the dough hooks of your hand mixer for approximately 5 minutes or until the dough is smooth.Grease a baking tray with butter. Place the dough onto the tray and pat with floury hands until the dough is evenly and thinly outspread all over the tray. Brush with melted butter.
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Halve and pit the damsons and arrange them densely side by side on top of the dough. Bake for 30 minutes.
Take out of the oven, drizzle with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
