Winter wine pot recipe details
Ingredients
750 ml red wine, dry |
1 orange, untreated |
8 whole cloves |
2 cinnamon, each 3 cm long |
6 cardamom pods, bruised |
2 stars anise |
6 black peppercorns, bruised |
1 small untreaed lemon peel |
Instructions
Stud orange with cloves. Place wine in a pot and add orange. Place spices into muslin bag and add to the wine together with lemon peel.
Slowly bring wine to the boil. Just before the wine is boiling remove from the heat.
Note: the slower the wine is heated, the better the flavour. Place a metal spoon into the glass before pouring in the wine, otherwise it might break.
