Ingredients

250 g flour, self-rising
60 g butter
60 g castor sugar
1 large egg, beaten
100 g a mix of sultanas and currants
some milk
1 pinch(es) salt
1 pinch(es) nutmeg, ground

Instructions

Preheat oven to 190°C.

Sieve the flour, pinch of salt and pinch of grated nutmeg into a bowl. In a separate bowl beat the egg.

Add the butter and add caster sugar. Mix in mixed sultanas and currants and beaten egg. Gradually add a little milk until the batter reaches a rather stiff consistency.

Bake in a shallow, greased, lined tin for about 30 minutes until well risen and golden brown
