Delicious deep fried doughnuts with a vitamin C boost from orange juice. Okay, they’re still not that healthy, but every little bit helps, right?

Ingredients
Makes: 20 doughnuts- 4 1/2 to 5 cups flour
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 4 teaspoons orange zest
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar
Preparation method
Prep: 30 mins | Cook: 25 mins | Extra time: 1 hour, chilling1. Stir 4 1/2 cups flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with milk, oil, orange juice, and orange zest.
2. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir to incorporate. Continue to add flour, a little bit at a time, until a soft dough comes together. Then cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
3. Sprinkle flour on a cutting board and transfer the dough to the cutting board. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough out to be 1/2-inch thick. Cut into doughnut shapes with a doughnut cutter.
4. Fill deep fryer with oil according to manufacturer’s instructions. Turn temperature to 375 degrees F.
5. When oil is hot, work in batches to fry the doughnuts until brown on both sides. Drain. When doughnuts are still warm but not piping hot, sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve.
