Toffee apple pieces recipe details
Ingredients
4 | Granny Smith apples |
120 g | flour |
120 ml | water |
1 | egg, beaten |
vegetable oil for deep frying | |
30 ml | vegetable oil |
120 g | sugar |
2 dash(es) | cinnamon powder |
Instructions
Peel and core each apple and cut into 8 pieces. Dust each piece with a little flour.Sift the remaining flour into a bowl and add the water. Stir well to make a smooth batter.
Add egg and blend well.
Heat oil for deep frying in a hot wok or heavy based pan. Dip the apple pieces in the batter and deep fry for about 3 minutes or until golden.
Heat 30 ml oil, add sugar and cinnamon and stir constantly until the sugar has caramelized.
Add apple and stir-fry until each piece is well coated with the toffee.
Dip the pieces in cold water to harden.
