- Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1-1/2 cups sifted flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Topping:
- 2 Tablespoons flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- Fresh prunes, apricots, apples, rhubarb, or jelly
- Streusel:
- 1 cup shortening
- Flour to thicken
Thoroughly mix together sugar, shortening, and egg. Stir in milk. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together and stir into mixture. Spread the batter in a greased and floured 13-inch pan. Let rise; punch down with fork.
Mix together topping ingredients and top cake. Add streusel and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake 1/2 hour at 375 degrees.
