An easy yet elegant steak recipe. Great for a romantic dinner or dinner party.

Ingredients

Serves: 4
  • 4 thick cut sirloin steaks
  • 1 bottle Marsala wine
  • 3-4 cups portabella mushrooms
  • 4 tablespoons butter divided
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1-2 med-lg white onions

Preparation method

Prep: 3 hours 30 mins | Cook: 30 mins

1. 3-4 hours before cooking (or overnight) marinate the steaks in ¼ bottle of the Marsala. 3-4 hours before cooking, roughly chop mushrooms, wash and allow to dry. The mushrooms will be absorbing the bulk of the flavor, so wet mushrooms won’t work.
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
3. In a thick bottomed (oven safe) pan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium high heat. Sear steaks on all sides. Reduce heat. Deglaze pan with ¼ bottle Marsala wine. Add salt and pepper to taste.
4. Cover and place pan in oven until the steaks are desired doneness.
5. Heat a large pan on medium heat and add 2 tablespoons butter. Add minced garlic and onions cut into rings. Cook until onions become tender. Add mushrooms and cook an additional 2-3 minutes. Deglaze pan with ½ bottle Marsala. Reduce heat. Continue cooking until most of the Marsala has been reduced.
6. Plate steaks whole or sliced. Top with sauce, mushrooms and onions.
