This spirited baked apple recipe is a delightful and indulgent dessert that combines the natural sweetness of apples with a touch of boozy goodness. The apples are cored and filled with a mixture of cinnamon, brown sugar, and a splash of your favorite spirit, such as rum or brandy. Baked to perfection, these tender and fragrant apples are then served warm, topped with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients
4 cored Granny Smith apples
1/4 to 1/3 cup brown sugar
3 Tablespoons butter
currants and finely ground nuts
Watkins Apple Bake Spiceor combo of cinnamon and allspice
1/3 cup bourbon
1/3 cup water
Instructions:

Remove a strip around each apple and place in an 8- or 9-inch baking dish. Fill each hole with brown sugar and press down to pack. Add a teaspoon of butter; press down. Add a few currants and ground nuts. Add brown sugar to cover opening and sprinkle with spice. Add to dish 1/4 to 1/3 cup brown sugar (or to taste) and 3 Tablespoons butter. Pour in 1/3 cup each of water and bourbon. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 1 hour or until apples are soft when pierced with a toothpick. Baste every 15 minutes. Serve apples warm in footed dishes with some of the sauce. Pass cream pitcher or whipped cream as desired.
