Ingredients
Makes: 8 sandwiches- Marinade Ingredients
- 2/3 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2/3 cup distilled white vinegar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley leaves
- 2 tablespoons dried basil leavese
- 1 pinch dried oregano leaves
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 4 pounds chicken breast, beef, lamb, pork or venison, cut into cubes
- bamboo skewers, soaked in water (as needed)
- 1 large loaf Italian bread, thickly sliced
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 10 mins | Extra time: 1 day, marinating1. Whisk the marinade ingredients together until evenly blended. Set aside 1 cup of the marinade to use later as a dressing. Pour the remaining marinade into a zip-top plastic bag, and add the cubed meat. Press out the air and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator 24 to 48 hours.
2. Preheat grill and thread the meat onto the soaked bamboo skewers. Discard any remaining marinade.
3. Cook the spiedies on the grill until the meat has cooked to your liking. Press the skewer into a slice of bread, and pull the stick out. Drizzle with some of the reserved dressing to taste.
