Ingredients
Serves: 8- 2 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon salt
- black pepper to taste
- 1 can whole tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1 1/2 teaspoon bay leaves (crushed)
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili pepper
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 12 ounces spaghettini
- Parmesan cheese
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 1 hour1. Meat Sauce
2. In a medium sized skillet heat up oil, add chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are tender and almost see through. Then add ground beef, salt and black pepper and cook until the pink is gone and has become browned.
3. Add whole tomatoes and start crushing the whole tomatoes into the meat. Now add the garlic powder, sugar, basil, bay leaves, peppers (cayenne & chili) and tomato paste. Mix well and simmer for 45-50 min.
4. Spaghettini
5. In a pot bring a gallon of water to a boil, if desired add 1 tbsp of salt to boiling water. Place spaghettini into boiling water and stir occasionally for 5 min or desired tenderness. Drain in a colander, do not rinse. Serve with meat sauce and Parmesan sprinkled on top.
