Ingredients
Serves: 2- 7 ounces sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 4 ounces dried rice noodles
- 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- 1 (1-inch) piece ginger, minced
- 1 fresh cayenne pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 carrot, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 small leek, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 6 green onions, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons rice wine
- 1 1/2 tablespoons water
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 10 mins1. Toss beef with cornstarch and five-spice powder in a bowl. Soak rice noodles in boiling water for 3 minutes, then drain and rinse with cool water.
2. Pour 1 tablespoon oil into a wok (or large frying pan) and set over high heat. Cook meat in hot oil for about 3 minutes, until beef is no longer pink, then transfer to a plate.
3. Pour 1/2 tablespoon oil into the wok. Cook garlic, ginger, and red chili for about 30 seconds, then stir in carrot, leek, green onions, and bell pepper. Cook for about 30 seconds, until crisp-tender.
4. Drizzle the vegetables with soy sauce, rice wine, and water. When liquids come to a boil, add rice noodles and beef. Heat through and serve.
