Ingredients

150 g ready-made puff pastry
1 medium egg, beaten
½ tsp hot smoked paprika, or plain paprika
½ tsp ground cumin, freshly grated
2 tbsp Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Instructions

Preheat oven to Gas Mark 6, 200°C, 400°F.

Roll pastry to a rectangle approximately 16 x 10 inches, 40 x 25cm. Brush with a little egg and sprinkle the spices and Parmesan evenly over the top. Fold pastry in half lengthways. Lightly roll the pastry with a rolling pin and straighten the edges. Brush with the remaining egg wash.

Cut into strips about 3/8 inch or 1cm wide. Pick up each straw and twist the ends in opposite directions. Bake on a greased baking sheet for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
