Ingredients
450 g | minced beef, or about 50/50 pork and beef if preferred |
1 large | onion, chopped |
1 clove(s) | garlic, finely chopped |
2 large can(s) | tomatoes, chopped , about 400-450 g size |
250 ml | passata |
350 ml | tomato puree |
250 ml | beef stock |
2 tbsp | parsley, chopped |
1 tsp | dried basil |
1 tsp | dried oregano |
1 tsp | salt |
¼ tsp | black pepper |
Instructions
Heat a large frying pan on a medium-low heat, crumble in the meat and add onions and garlic. Brown the beef, tossing and stirring when required. Remove from heat and drain off excess fat.Turn the mixture into a stock pot and add the remaining ingredients. Stir well, cover and cook at a simmer for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally. If it looks dry at any stage, you may wish to add a few tablespoons of water or red wine.
Serve hot with freshly cooked spaghetti.
This will serve 6-8 with ease. If there is a surplus, or if you wish to make it in advance of requirements, it freezes well in a sealed container.
