Ingredients
6 tbsp | granulated sugar |
120 g | unsalted butter |
2 tbsp | milk |
2 tbsp | treacle |
½ tsp | vinegar |
Instructions
Melt butter in a saucepan and add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. reduce heat and continue to boil for 20 minutes.Test if done by dropping a small amount from a teaspoon into a cup of cold water. If the toffee forms into a ball and drops to the bottom, it is ready.
Pour into well buttered tin and allow to set. When almost set, mark out into squares of about 1 inch, 2.5cm and break up when cold.
Options: add a handful of chopped walnuts, chopped brazil nuts, once the toffee is ready. Flavour with rum essence and a few raisins. Flavour with a few drops of mint flavouring or vanilla extract for a variety of flavours.
