Soda bread recipe
Soda Bread recipe⚠ Note: for metric to imperial (or vice-versa) conversion please refer to our article on Cooking Measurements 101.
- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 Tablespoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup applesauce
Combine dry ingredients. Stir in raisins. Set aside. Combine egg, applesauce, and buttermilk. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Spoon batter into greased 8-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let bread cool completely on wire rack.
