This is a very quick and easy bread recipe shared by a college housemate from Indiana.
- Ingredients
- 1 cup white flour
- 1 cup whole wheat or rye flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 beaten egg
- Topping:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
Mix flours, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and beaten egg. Pour into well-greased 9 x 9-inch pan. Cut topping ingredients into crumbles with pastry blender. Sprinkle with brown sugar/cinnamon mixture or spread with preserves. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
