Ingredients
For the yeast dough: | |
200 g | durum wheat |
300 g | spelt, finely ground |
200 g | single cream |
150 g | water |
1 cube(s) | yeast |
1 tsp | salt |
For the Glaze: | |
single cream | |
some | poppy seed |
Instructions
Mix all ingredients for the dough and knead until the dough is soft and pliable. Set the yeast dough in a warm place and allow to rise for 45 minutes.Preheat the oven to 250°C.
Knead the dough again, then divide in 8 portions. Divide each portion evenly in three and roll out strands with a length of 18 cm.
Braid every three strands together, brush with single cream and sprinkle with poppy seed.
Transfer the braids to a greased baking tray, allow them to rise for another 15 minutes. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
Advice:
Place a bowl with water on the bottom of the oven, to avoid that the braids get too dry.
