Ingredients
Serves: 6- 1/2 pound bulk spicy Italian sausage
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- 1 ounce sharp Cheddar cheese, cut into 6 cubes
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 15 mins1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
2. Brown sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until cooked through and no longer pink. Drain on paper towels.
3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup cream and the cooked sausage, and knead gently to incorporate.
4. Sprinkle some flour on a cutting board or clean countertop. Turn the dough over onto the cutting board and pat into a large flat round. Slice into 6 wedges.
5. Set one cheese cube in each wedge, roll up the wedge around the cheese into a ball, and coat with cream. Place on a baking sheet.
6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops of the balls are golden-brown.
