sam's sausage casserole recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1 pound sausage
- 3 cups cooked grits
- 10 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 Tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1-1/2 cups half & half
Crumble and brown sausage and drain well. Spray dish with cooking spray then place sausage into bottom of 13 x 9 x 2-inch casserole dish. Stir cooked grits, shredded cheese, and butter or margarine until combined and butter is melted.
Beat together 3 eggs and half & half and stir into grit mixture. Pour into casserole over the sausage. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Will be extra fluffy if made the night before and refrigerated before baking.
Variations can be made with other cheeses and herbs or spring onions and chives to add taste.
