Rob's perfect bacon recipe details
Aah bacon, the perfect meat. What other meat is both a meal, an ingredient, a seasoning, and yes…even a dessert? A crime is committed every time this most precious of meats is cooked incorrectly. This is more of a technique than a recipe… But trust me, your bacon will be better for it.
Ready in: 35 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 2- 1 package bacon
Preparation method
Prep: 5 mins | Cook: 25 mins | Extra time: 5 mins, cooling1. Cut the package of bacon in half. You can put half back in the fridge or cook it all. Cutting the bacon in half promotes even cooking and reduces curling.
2. Place the individual strips on a COLD broiler pan. Now place the pan in a COLD oven. Bake the bacon for 20 minutes at 400 degrees or until you see very tiny bubbles of fat on the meat. DO NOT worry if it’s not crisp. While the bacon cooks, prepare whatever else you are going to serve with it.
3. Remove the bacon from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes. The bacon will crisp as it cools. If it’s not crispy enough place bacon strips in a hot fry pan and cook to the desired crispness.
4. Your bacon is now perfectly cooked.Tip
Save the grease…I call it Bacon Butter. Just a dab in your favorite cooking oil will do ya!
