Ingredients
2 medium | onions, finely chopped |
100 g | carrots, finely chopped |
3 clove(s) | garlic, minced |
500 ml | water |
1 tbsp | tomato paste |
240 ml | red wine |
2 tbsp | red wine vinegar |
1 tsp | dried rosemary |
1 tsp | dried thyme |
1 tsp | dried basil |
2 tbsp | water |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Instructions
Sauté onion, carrots and garlic in 2 teaspoons of water for 5 minutes. Place in a heavy pot along with remaining ingredients except water. Bring to a boil, cover partially, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until vegetables are tender.Reduce heat and continue stirring as sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. If necessary, add some cornstarch, a teaspoon at a time, until sauce has desired consistency.
