Poached Black Figs recipe

Ingredients
800 ml | red wine |
240 ml | honey |
120 ml | red wine vinegar |
2 stick(s) | cinnamon |
1 tbsp | whole cloves |
1 kg | fresh figs, halved |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Instructions
In a saucepan, bring wine, honey, vinegar, cinnamon sticks and cloves to a simmer. Continue cooking at a low simmer until the mixture is reduced to a light syrup, approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from heat.Strain the mixture and return it to the saucepan.
Add the halved figs and season with salt and pepper. Stir gently. Cook over low heat until the figs are just tender, approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
Transfer the figs to a bowl.
Remove the wine syrup from the heat and set aside to cool.
When cooled, add the figs to the syrup and refrigerate. Serve chilled.
