- Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 well-beaten eggs
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cream butter and gradually add sugar to butter, creaming well. Add vanilla and eggs to mixture. Blend in dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add applesauce and walnuts and mix until blended only. Pour into well-greased loaf pans and bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. Cool thoroughly before cutting. (Best refrigerated overnight before cutting.)
