Mom's orange chocolate marble cake recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 2 cups cake flour
- 2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 1-1/4 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 square unsweetened chocolate (1 ounce)
- 1 Tablespoon grated orange rind
Sift flour. Measure. Add baking powder and salt. Sift again. Cream shortening; add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add unbeaten eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk, stirring only enough after each addition to blend thoroughly. Do not beat. Divide batter in half; to one half add unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled; to other half add the orange rind. Stir until evenly blended. Spoon the batter into a greased bundt pan, alternating orange and chocolate batter. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees about 1 hour. When cool, sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar.
