Ingredients
250 g | ground lamb shoulder |
250 g | ground beef chuck |
1 | onion, chopped |
3 clove(s) | garlic, chopped |
1 tbsp | hot paprika powder |
½ tbsp | Smoked paprika powder |
1 tbsp | fresh savory, chopped |
½ tsp | baking powder |
1 tsp | caraway |
1 tsp | dried marjoram |
salt and pepper | |
3 | allspice berries |
olive oil |
Instructions
Place all spices, herbs and seasonings into a mortar and pestle until well ground.In a bowl add to the meat onion, garlic, baking powder and the ground spices. Knead until well combined. Check seasoning and correct if necessary. If you don’t want to taste the raw mixture, fry a small amount to check. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for approximately 5 hours.
With wet hands, shape the mixture to small sausages.
In a pan heat some oil. Add the meat rolls and fry over medium heat until golden browned all around and cooked through.
Serve with fresh crusty bread and a garlic dip.
Note:
The Mititei are also delicious when grilled over charcoal.
