Great lamb meatballs–they won’t freshen your breath, but they do make a great party appetizer.
Ready in: 45 mins

Ingredients

Makes: 20 meatballs
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 1 slice bread, crumbled
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh mint
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Preparation method

Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 25 mins

1. Pour 2 tablespoons olive oil into a large skillet and place over medium heat. Cook onion and garlic in hot oil for 6 to 8 minutes, until soft. Remove from heat.
2. Gently stir lamb, bread, egg, mint, coriander, cumin, onion-garlic combination, and salt and pepper to taste together in a mixing bowl. Form into 20 meatballs, one inch across.
3. Lightly dredge meatballs in flour.
4. Pour 2 more tablespoons olive oil into the skillet and place over medium heat. Brown half of the meatballs in hot oil until thoroughly cooked, about 9 minutes, then repeat with remaining oil and meatballs.
5. Drain, then serve.
