Mean mr mustard steak recipe details
A zesty steak recipe that is easy to make, combining the wonderful flavor of seared steak with the tanginess of mustard.
Ready in: 30 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 4- 4 tablespoons Montreal(R) steak seasoning
- 1 cup diced red onions
- 1/2 cup mustard (my favorite is Moutarde de Meaux)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 steaks, 1-inch thick cut, filet or ribeye
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 15 mins1. Score both sides of steak in a diamond pattern by making shallow diagonal cuts.
2. Liberally season steak with Montreal Steak Seasoning, ensuring complete coverage. Brush both sides of steaks with mustard.
3. Heat butter in a large skillet.
4. Liberally add diced red onions to one side of each steak, “sticking” them into the mustard.
5. Add steaks to skillet and butter, cooking over high heat. 4-5 minutes for rare (each side). Turn carefully and repeat with red onions.
6. Alternatively, place meat on the unheated rack of a broiler pan. Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat for 10 to 20 minutes or until desired temperature, turning once halfway through broiling.
7. Remove steaks from oven/skillet and let sit for 5 minutes prior to cutting/serving.
