Manhattan cocktail recipe details
One of the original cocktails, it’s best with rye whiskey but bourbon works in a pinch, though bourbon makes it sweeter. Shake or stir.

Ingredients
Serves: 1- Ice
- 2 ounces rye whiskey
- 1 ounce sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Maraschino cherry or lemon twist for garnish
Preparation method
Prep: 5 mins1. Chill a martini glass in the freezer. Place ice in a cocktail pitcher or shaker. Pour whiskey and sweet vermouth into the shaker or pitcher. Add two dashes of bitters. Shake or stir to mix. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon or a maraschino cherry.
