puff pastry, use up trimmings or leftovers | |
firm jam, e.g. quince butter or plum butter | |
1 | egg |
oil for deep-frying | |
icing sugar |
Instructions
Roll out the puff pastry and cut out 8-10cm rounds. Brush the edges with a little beaten egg. Place a teaspoonful of the jam in the middle and turn over the pastry to shape a half-moon. Firmly press together the edges.Deep-fry the kickshaws in patches until golden brown and puffed up.
Serve warm, dusted with icing sugar.
