Kadaif is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert made with a unique shredded pastry called kadaif or kataifi. This delectable sweet treat is typically filled with a mixture of nuts, honey, and spices, creating a delightful combination of flavors and textures. The pastry is baked until golden and crispy, then soaked in a sweet syrup to enhance its sweetness. Whether served warm or cold, Kadaif is a beloved dessert that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  1. Vermicelli – 300   grams (fine)
  2. Sugar – 2 cups
  3. Butter – 1/3 cup
  4. Cottage cheese – 2  cups  (grated)
  5. Lemon  – ½
  6. Pistachios – for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Break vermicelli into small pieces. Mix a cup of water,  sugar, lemon juice and  lemon peel and boil till sugar dissolves
  2. In a baking dish put half of melted butter and half vermicelli, and cheese, keep aside.
  3. Layer with remaining vermicelli chopped pistachios and remaining butter.
  4. Place baking dish in on preheated oven on 180C for 20 minutes
  5. Take out mixture
  6. Remove lemon peel from sugar mixture and pour on  kadaif
  7. Serve when mixture is absorbed
