Homemade ginger beer recipe details
Ingredients
450 g | sugar |
4 ½ l | water |
juice of 1 lemon | |
40 g | root ginger |
20 g | cream of tartar |
20 g | yeast |
Instructions
Wrap the ginger in a clean cloth and hit with hammer.Combine the ginger, lemon juice and cream of tartar in a large bowl. Bring the water to a boil and pour add to the bowl. Add the lemon juice and stir well. Allow to cool to about 21°C.
Ladle some of the liquid into a smaller bowl and mix with the yeast. Then add the yeast mixture into the large bowl. Stir again.
Cover the container with a clean cloth and secure with string or elastic. Leave in a warm place 21°C for 24 hours.
Strain the liquid through a fine cloth and pour liquid into a jug. Then pour the ginger beer into strong bottles and cork. Store the bottle in a cool dark place.
The beer is ready after 2 days.
