Hearty tuna chowder recipe details
Ingredients1. Tuna in water, undrained (1can or package)
2. vegetable broth or chicken broth (1c)
3. flour (3tbsp)
4. cooked bacon, crumbled (3slices)
5. potatoes cut in small pieces (2med.)
6. chopped celery (1/4c)
7. chopped onion (1/4c)
8. chopped green pepper (1/4c)
9. butter or margarine (2tbsp)
10. whole Kernel corn, drained (1can)
11. shredded cheddar cheese (1c)
12. salt and pepper (to taste)
13. evaporated milk or half and half (1c)
Method of preparation
1. Take a non stick frying pan, place it over medium low heat and then melt butter or margarine in it. Saute the celery, green pepper, onion and potatoes for about 10 minutes.
2. Now add flour to the vegetable mixture and cook for another 3 minutes. Add bacon, tuna and vegetable broth. Mix them until they get smooth and thickened. Add corn and then transfer the mixture to the Crockpot.
3. Cover it and cook on low heat for 4 hours. Add evaporated milk, cheddar cheese, salt and pepper to taste. Now turn the heat to high and cook for another 20 to 30 minutes. When the tuna chowder gets ready then serves it.
