Hawaiian baked egg dish recipe details
- Ingredients
- Day-old bread
- 6 beaten eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 pound shredded cheese
- 1 small can green chilies (optional)
Take your day-old bread and cube. Remove the crusts. Save and keep cubes in refrigerator bags to use as needed. Can prepare and refrigerate this special breakfast dish the night before. Pop it in the oven for a special lazy morning feast. We buy two kinds of cheeses, pre-shredded, and keep this in the freezer also.
Spray non-stick cooking spray on 12 x 7-inch glass casserole dish. Place bread cubes in bottom of dish.
Mix together eggs, milk, salt, mustard, and chilies (if desired). Pour mix over bread cubes and cover with shredded cheese. Some folks like a little more.
Bake at 325 degrees for one hour. Serve with salsa and sour cream (if desired).
