Granny hufnagle's shoo fly cake recipe details
- Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Criscovegetable shortening
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 Tablespoon baking soda
- Crumb Topping:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 stick margarine
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix together flour, sugar, salt, and Crisco; take out 1 cup of crumb and set aside. Mix water, molasses, and baking soda and add both mixtures together. Pour into 10 x 13-inch greased and floured pan.
Topping:Mix the 1 cup of crumbs that you set aside with flour, sugar, and margarine. Sprinkle on top of batter, then sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
