Ingredients
Serves: 8- 1/2 cup butter, softened, plus more for greasing baking dish
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour whole milk or buttermilk
- 2 cups flour, plus more for flouring baking dish
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 35 mins1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Cream butter, sugar, and eggs in large mixing bowl.
3. Melt chocolate in 1 cup water over low heat on stove in saucepan. Add vanilla and sour milk, then add the chocolate mixture to creamed butter mixture. Beat Well.
4. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder in mixing bowl.
5. Blend flour mixture into the creamed butter and chocolate mixture. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and frost to serve.
