Gloucester pancakes recipe details
Ingredients
180 g | flour |
pinch(es) | salt |
1 tsp | baking powder |
90 g | suet, shredded |
1 | egg, beaten |
milk, a little | |
lard for frying |
Instructions
In a bowl mix together the flour, salt and baking powder then rub in the suet. Knead in the egg and sufficient milk to get a firm dough. On a lightly floured surface roll out the dough to 1.5cm thick. With a 5cm cutter cut out 12 rounds.In a skillet melt a little lard and bake the cakes until golden brown on both sides. Drain on kitchen paper.
Serve with warmed golden syrup or lemon curd.
