Gateau grieve recipe details
- Ingredients
- 4 to 5 apples, diced
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup oil
- 2 Tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup raisins
- 4 cups flour
- 3-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup chocolate bits
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- nuts
Interestingly enough, this recipe uses no dairy products.
Combine apples, sugar, water, oil, cocoa, and raisins and bring to a boil for 3 minutes. Cool to lukewarm. Add flour, baking soda, salt, chocolate, cinnamon, allspice, and nuts. Pour into 2 loaf pans lined with waxed paper. Bake at 350 degrees for at least an hour.
