Fruit scones details
- Ingredients
- 2 cups unbleached flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- Dash of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
- Grated peel of 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup butter chopped up or softened
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chopped prunes
Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, lemon and butter until crumbly. Then add buttermilk and prunes.
Dip your biscuit cutter in flour and pat dough into it and place in greased brownie pan. Bake at 325 degrees until just done.
Orange sesame sconesare made same as above, but cut cardamom to 1/3 teaspoon and use 1/2 large orange instead of lemon. You also need to omit the prunes and add 3 dried apricots and 1/3 cup sesame seeds. (Grind up the orange with the apricots in a meat grinder.)
