Ingredients
250 ml | flour |
1 tsp | salt |
1 tsp | mixed herbs, dried |
1 tbsp | cooking oil |
250 ml | beer |
800 g | fish fillets, hake, kingclip or cod |
For the Tartar Sauce | |
250 ml | mayonnaise |
2 tsp | capers |
3 medium | gherkins, finely chopped |
1 tsp | chives, chopped |
1 tbsp | cream |
Instructions
Sift flour and salt together. Add herbs, oil and beer and mix well to a smooth batter.Coat fish fillets with extra flour, dip into batter and fry in shallow oil. Drain on paper towel.
For the sauce mix together mayonnaise, capers, gherkins, chives and cream and serve with fish.
