Ingredients
800 g | fish fillet, e.g. zander, salmon trout, bass, coalfish |
1 | lime, juice |
salt | |
2 | onions |
2 clove(s) | garlic |
500 g | ripe tomatoes |
ginger, approx. 5cm | |
1 | chili pepper, or more |
2 tbsp | clarified butter |
1 tsp | cumin seed |
1 tsp | coriander seed |
2 tsp | turmeric |
200 g | yoghurt |
150 ml | vegetable stock |
1 bunch(es) | parsley or coriander |
Instructions
Wash the fish and pat dry. Cut into 5cm pieces and season with lime juice and salt. Transfer on a platter and leave to soak.Peel and chop the onions and the garlic. Peel and dice the tomatoes. Peel and finely chop the ginger. Seed the chili pepper and cut into small pieces.
In a skillet heat the clarified butter, then fry the onions, garlic, ginger and chili pepper over high heat. Crush the cumin and the coriander seeds in a mortar. Add both and the turmeric to the onion mixture and cook for 2 more minutes.
Add the tomatoes and cook stirring for 2 minutes. Mix the yoghurt with the vegetable stock until smooth and pour the mixture into the skillet. Bring to a short boil, then reduce the heat. Add the fish, cover and simmer over low heat for further 5 minutes. Roughly chop the parsley or coriander and sprinkle over the dish.
Serve with Basmati rice.
