Favorite cinnamon rolls recipe details
- Ingredients Dough:
- 1 package yeast
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2/3 cup warm milk
- 2-1/2 cups bread flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- Filling:
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup raisins, soaked in water until plump (drained)
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- Icing:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
- Juice of 1 orange or lemon
These are made using a bread machine, but they can be made by hand.
Bread: Use the bread machine to knead the dough. The kneading cycle is complete when the beeper signals that the kneading is complete. Remove the dough and roll out on a floured board to a large thin rectangle, 22 x 14 inches. Brush dough with melted butter.
Filling: Combine butter, sugar, nuts, raisins, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Sprinkle dough with this mixture.
Roll in jelly roll fashion, starting with long edge. Seal edges and slice into 10 to 20 rolls. Place cut side down on baking sheet. Or, even better, place them in a sugared glass baking dish. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Brush with melted butter. Drizzle with icing.
